Still: still a great album, now a great book
Joy Division are one of the greatest bands of all time and “Still” is one of my favourite albums, so it’s great to have a short story included in a new fiction anthology of the same name.
“Still” is the brainchild of artist Roelof Bakker, who took a series of haunting photographs and videos of the old Hornsey Town Hall. Roelof then asked a number of writers to compose a story based on one of the photographs and the results are to be published in a book out next month.
There are some brilliant stories in the collection, and it was a privilege to have a story included (“Midnight Hollow”, the name plucked from “The Waves” by Virginia Woolf). The collection is edited by Roelof, plus the very esteemed Nicholas Royle and Ros Sales, and will launch at Foyle’s on 26th September 2012.
