#MilitantFactionsQuotes 48:

“Well, I’m almost ashamed to admit it, but I voted BNP.” There’s a frozen silence round the table: even Helen looks embarrassed. “Look,” says Wilfred, rubbing his beard, rising angrily to a challenge that hasn’t been verbalised, “it was a protest. Things just can’t go on like this! Look at the state of this place.” Everyone looks round the dignified dining room, paid for, like the rest of the house, by Wilfred’s missing mother. “I don’t mean - here. I work in Chester and it’s becoming... an alien world.”

-From "A problem shared is a problem doubled", first published in Bewilderbliss Magazine (2009), and one of the stories in Mark Piggott's fiction/non-fiction collection "Militant Factions" available in paperback or Kindle from Amazon.
