#MilitantFactionsQuotes 35:

Every day for many years he passed by the window, and no matter how he tried he could never keep from looking therein. Deep down he had a deep terror that someone would come along, purchase his picture even though it bore no price and take it away from him forever. Each time he saw its ever-changing gaze (its shifting meanings and moods) his breathing slowed a fraction, then his blood would boil again in fury.

-From "Picture This", published in the "More Raw Material" anthology (2015), and one of the stories in Mark Piggott's fiction/non-fiction collection "Militant Factions" available in paperback or Kindle from Amazon.
